So what's the difference between Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality?

"AR is related to Virtual Reality.
The big difference is that users enter a whole new world with Virtual Reality, while Augmented Reality generates a digitally extended environment. A small difference with huge impact.

Augmented Reality is an extra layer of information that is added to the perception of the real world. Virtual Reality focuses more on so-called “immersive” experiences. Augmented Reality focuses more on spatial computing and spatial communication."

Simply put, Augmented Reality (AR) requires only a mobile device that allows users to interact with Augmented Reality content. One look at the screen, one click et Voíla! A sensational AR experience has been launched.

Virtual Reality (VR), on the other hand, can only be experienced using a specific VR device such as Oculus Rift (a VR headset). This leads to a complete immersion of the user into the universe seen through the headset. For this reason, the Gaming Industry is totally into VR… we cannot blame them.

So the primary difference is that AR blends the real and the virtual worlds while VR offers an entirely virtual and closed off environment. Thus, AR companies and Ar development companies focus way more on enhancing an experience with virtual benefits, rather than creating complete new ones.
